Painting is good for you!

Why Painting Is Good for You

Create. Connect. Relax. Celebrate.

Painting is more than creating a beautiful picture. It gives us a moment to slow down, focus on the present and simply enjoy being creative.

Research increasingly shows that taking part in creative activities can support our wellbeing, help us regulate emotions and strengthen social connection. Professor Daisy Fancourt, a leading researcher in arts and health, has explored how activities such as painting, music, dance and other forms of creativity can positively influence our mental, physical and social wellbeing.

And the wonderful thing is: you don’t have to be an artist to benefit from being creative.

At Ocean Painters, we bring creativity into one of the most beautiful settings imaginable – the beach in Swakopmund.

For two hours, you can leave everyday life behind, listen to the ocean, pick up a brush and create something that is completely your own. Whether you come alone, with friends, as a couple, with your family or as a team, it is about much more than the finished painting.

It is about the experience.

The ocean. The colours. The creativity. The people around you. And the simple joy of making something with your own hands.

Come paint with us.

Create. Connect. Relax. Celebrate.

The Science Behind Creativity

The positive effects of creativity on our wellbeing are increasingly supported by scientific research.

Professor Daisy Fancourt, one of the world’s leading researchers in the field of arts and health at University College London (UCL), has studied how creative activities can influence our mental, physical and social wellbeing.

In her book Art Cure: The Science of How the Arts Transform Our Health, she brings together research showing how activities such as painting, music, dance and other forms of creative engagement can support wellbeing, emotional regulation and social connection.

At Ocean Painters, we love this idea:

You don’t need to be an artist.

You simply need to give yourself the freedom to create.

And what better place to do that than by the ocean?

Create. Connect. Relax. Celebrate.
